MARTIN WHATSON

His works can be seen to mirror the rise and fall of the streets, as he symbolically recreates the urban environment, then vandalises it to reveal his vibrant transformations.
CHEMICAL X
Chemical X is a British artist whose work is based in the world of the pixel and the human brain’s ability to fill in what it wants to see, in order to add detail that never existed. The proximity of the viewer to the subject can mean that one studies the detail at the expenses of the bigger picture or, from a more distant perspective, one is forced by one’s own subconscious to bring order to the seemingly chaotic mix thousands of pills, each charged with their own power to polarize opinion.
fanakapan
Fanakapan’s 3D creations of helium balloon-based subjects will stop you in your tracks, they allow him maximum opportunity to demonstrate his superb free hand skills, use of shadow & reflective highlights to make his works just pop off the surface!
What stands out most about Fanakapan’s work on the street is that beyond the immediate and overwhelmingly impressive aesthetic dynamic, the pieces also allude to larger messages & hint at more acute aspects of Fanakapan’s personality.
donk
Knights of the crusade and B.boys break dancing. Rag & bone men, pitiful horses and the grey London streets. Dusty relics, faded empires and finding the keys to the time machine. KUNSTRASEN
Kunstrasen is a contemporary German artist whose crafty moniker reveals more than just his nationality. Deriving from the German for astroturf, while also a composite of the German word for art (“kunst”), Kunstrasen wears his duals loves of punning urban art on his sleeve and, through this nom de plume, questions contemporary issues of artistic authenticity, mimicry, and mass production. Obscuring his identity, Kunstrasen continues the urban tradition of democratic anonymity, privileging the role of viewer over the artist, and creating an aesthetic with wide, visual appeal. Clean, stripped back, and compositionally forceful, Kunstrasen’s stencils are mesmerising: this is street-to-canvas at its most powerful.
MY DOG SIGHS
"My Dog Sighs' work forms a narrative based on counterpointed poignancy that resonate with those that have the opportunity to find them. Moments of loss and then being found echo the materials used. Then moving on to finding and painting at quiet spots in or out of the city where I have the time to freely paint more detailed work. My first mural or piece was a painting of hip hop rapper ‘ice cube’ on a wall down the street from where I lived as a youngster. I thought it was great, and when traveling on the bus by the wall I would overhear the people saying “look at that!” and pointing. My use of colour and contrast to attract the viewer, while painting something surreal, allows people to view essentially traditional content, like figurative works, in a more modern, less typical way.

There have seldom been artists, much less newcomers to town, who have so melded with a city and its history as Thierry Noir (born 1958). His fate took him to West Berlin (1945-1990). The Frenchman began to paint the west side of the Berlin Wall with other artists in 1984. Since the entire border area belonged to GDR territory, it was illegal to be artistically active there. But the scene was perfectly set for painting: giant concrete, gessoed surfaces, a massive audience, and guaranteed interest from the press. Noir had to work quickly to fill the concrete panels so as not to be discovered or chased away by the border patrol while painting.

Bill BARMINSKI
"Bill Barminski has a long history of playing with cardboard. Though known as a painter, his increasingly independent sense of humor long ago inspired him to make unlikely things out of cardboard—rockets, motorcycles, mixtapes, gas masks—offerings which always operated on dual levels. On the one hand, the subversive joy of making that recalls childhood in its imagination and raw fun; on the other, an almost nihilistic thumb in the eye of the expense-obsessed out of control art market and its insatiable appetite for junk. For those reasons and more it was the most natural fit ever when Banksy tapped Barminski for Dismaland, where, among other things, Barminski created the entire security entrance set-up with metal detectors, body-search wands and everything at the entrance to the park. “People went through it!” marvels Barminski. “I don’t know if they thought it was real or if they were just playing along or what—but they did it.”

Some of his pieces are transferred to large scale murals, placing his work alongside its most significant inspiration—the outside world. Renda earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts specialising in oil painting from the American Academy of Art. He is represented by Chicago’s Vertical Gallery, curated and shown in numerous group exhibitions both national and internationally, created public murals, and has had his work published in numerous magazines and blogs.

His two interests in graffiti and oil painting converged, leading to the development of Cochran's signature aerosol pointillist style; portraits or urban landscapes painted entirely from dots and dashes of spray paint. This technique developed into what he called the 'drip paintings' and the 'scribble paintings', composed of layers of coloured drips or energetic lines to form vibrant and poetic city scapes and portraits. Cochran now lives in London and his canvases and walls can be viewed in cities across the world.
